Kristine is a skilled Bible teacher and she weaves the story of Rahab together with her own battle with cancer, to help us face our fear and the unknown by clinging to God. I loved studying more about Rahab and what she was facing as the Israelites were set to attack Jericho. I especially appreciated the chapter on "what-ifs" and learning how to reframe them based on God's promised faithfulness. Kristine's writing style is easy to read and scripture-saturated, and each chapter concludes with an "Untying Old Habits" prayer and practical ways to Live It Out. If you or someone you know is going through a fear-filled or difficult circumstance, Cinched will help you identify and tie down the places where your trust in God may waver. Highly recommended! The author takes a little-known woman in the bible and brings her to life. Suddenly, you can see what it was like living on a promise from God from Rahab's perspective. Further, the author takes her own journey living on a promise and shares it with us. She doesn't come across has an authority figure telling you what to do, but instead as a friend who is on a journey too. She shares her journey in a way that makes us examine our trust in the Lord and feel that we can do better...that it is okay to trust in the Lord completely. The author begins with asking herself and us if we live like we trust in the Lord. In chapter one, the author takes us on her journey through some difficult times and discusses how we need to shut the gate on worry. Chapter two discusses how we can build a stronger trust in the Lord. Comparing and contrasting Rahab's life in the Bible with hers, the author takes the reader by the hand and along on the journey through our life stories and struggles towards the unwavering confidence and trust we can have in a God that never fails His people. The glossary of God's promises at the end of the book is a nice feature to read and re-read to remind and uplift us in difficult times of all God has done and will do.
